Creative Access Consultancy

In addition to their own projects, Phoebe Kemp supports other theatre companies with Creative Access Consultancy. There are two different strands on this work that Phoebe specializes in:

Sensory Theatre

Phoebe has a decade of experience working in the sensory theatre sector, making work for people with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities. They have worked with a number of leading companies and artists in the sector including Frozen Light, Gill Brigg, Concrete Youth and Oily Cart. They have also supported main stream theatre companies in relevant training for Relaxed Performances.

“It was fantastic to work with Phoebe as Creative Access Consultant on The Ancient Oak of Baldor.  Their wealth of experience in the sensory theatre sector across multiple leading companies in the sector, as well as experience in their own sensory theatre projects, means that their knowledge in this area is unrivalled. That breadth of experience has been incredible in the R&D process.Amber Onat Gregory, Co-Artistic Director Frozen Light

“Phoebe has been essential to our process for Sensory Cinders. They are a great team player and delivered exceptional training to the cast in access consultancy, specifically looking at sensory moments and intensive interaction and engagement with the audience. They have been a great support to the team as a whole and would absolutely work with them again and would recommend them to anyone who is seeking someone that is supportive, creative, informative and holds a room fantastically well.” Belle Streeton, Co-Artistic Director Concrete Youth

Company Development

With lived experience as a neurodivergent wheelchair user and 8 years on Equity’s Deaf and Disabled Members Committee, Phoebe has a wealth of knowledge to bring to theatre companies wanting to improve their practice around disability. Phoebe creates bespoke workshops for companies to develop their skills in creating more accessible work and employing more disabled creatives.

“The session was super informative and Phoebe was very knowledgeable and we learnt loads. The session was tailored to the work of Last Baguette: we were able to ask questions, discuss and integrate our specific working practices and what actions we could/should take to make our working practices more accessible. We felt super comfortable and relaxed during the session and came excited for changes that we will make. We would really recommend training with Phoebe for other theatre companies.” The Last Baguette
